Lizzie & Kat Celebrate Dads

We’re checking in with an update since we announced our brief mid-season hiatus a few weeks back. Kat’s dad passed away, and she has been so touched by everyone’s messages of support and sympathy. Lizzie and Kat take the opportunity to share some memories of Phil’s support of the podcast and related 90210 concerns (mostly Ian Ziering), read his “IMDb bio,” and thank our listeners for the patience until new episodes of the podcast are back. We also bring you some updates from “90210 in the news,” and re-run our interview with one of the series’ most iconic dads, Matthew Laurance!

In memory of Kat’s dad, her family welcomes donations to the Malala Fund.

Discussed in this episode are Kat’s reviews of the Best Picture Oscar nominees (addendum), and:

060 Paul Stupin - The Twins, the Trustee, and the Very Big Trip

According to Wikipedia, Paul Stupin “was recruited to the fledgling Fox Network as executive vice president of series programming, serving there from 1989 to 1992. Stupin’s greatest legacy was bringing a twenty-nine-year-old screenwriter, Darren Star, to producer Aaron Spelling. Star had ideas of a high school drama and Spelling, for the first time since the 1960s, had not one show on the air. The result of their partnership was Beverly Hills, 90210.”

Paul now serves as the executive producer of Switched at Birth, and he previously executive produced Dawson’s Creek. We paired our discussion of the 90210 episode “The Twins, the Trustee, and the Very Big Trip,” with our interview with Paul about his time working at the network.
